Yesterday I had the huge honour of playing a role in the State Opening of Parliament in seconding the Loyal Address which thanked the King for his speech.
I am incredibly proud that the Stroud constituency played a part in history given that it was His Majesty the King’s first State Opening of Parliament.
It is customary to be jolly in seconding a speech, but it was also important to recognise that these are difficult times so to hear the government’s focus on security challenges – domestic and international – was extremely important too.
