It was great to be joined by Clean Up the Internet, Tell Mama UK, Kick It Out, the Football Association, Antisemitism Policy Trust, cross-party MPs and tech specialists to discuss online abuse and how we can safeguard people from anonymous hate.
Verification on social media gives users the choice to not interact with anonymous accounts if they wish.
This is my campaign and I want the government to get on board through its incredible Online Safety work.
Tackling anonymous abuse is backed by many inside and outside Parliament - it can and should be done!
The verification proposal doesn’t ban anonymous accounts and retains the right to free speech.
Crucially, it pulls the rug from under the anonymous hate peddlers because their reach will diminish.
