This week I was called for the first time to ask the Prime Minister a question during PMQs.
This wasn’t me winning on the ballot shuffle to speak. It comes from ‘bobbing’ as you may have seen me do each week.
I used the seconds of time to support our WWT Slimbridge for #WorldWetlandsDay this Sunday. You all know how many visitors Slimbridge pulls into Stroud, the Valleys & Vale & their stunning history of leading conservation work. The brilliant WWT team came to Westminster this week to promote the event so it was great to give them added support on the telly.
I managed to get the words ‘famous flamboyance of flamingos’ out in the right order & the PM talking about Stroud’s flamingos.
I understand a collection of flamingos is a ‘flamboyance’ which is too good to not try to get into a question! The main thrust of the question was however about the importance Environment Bill that is coming up soon.
The PM was characteristically good-humoured in response & got to talk briefly about the Environment bill which he will make sure becomes legislation asap.
Please visit WWT Slimbridge & all Wetlands sites near you. They are stunning places that will make you feel calmer as well as showcasing wildlife, biodiversity, nature, tackling climate change & wellness.

This Sunday is World Wetlands Day, and I have the superb WWT Slimbridge headquarters in my constituency. Will the Prime Minister tell us what the environment Bill will do for wetlands and wildlife, and will he visit our famous flamboyance of flamingos?
The Prime Minister
I look forward to seeing my hon. Friend’s famous flamboyant flamingos at the earliest opportunity. I can tell her that our environment plan places biodiversity frameworks on a statutory footing—whether or not that includes flamingos, I do not know.
