I complained to the Stroud News and Journal about its Blackboy Clock article that used a statement I made out of context to sensationalise their story.
You can see my email to the editor below, I am pleased that this email received a prompt response from the editor and her admission that the paper got it wrong.
I have been assured that my statement will be used in full and in context, both online and in print.
I would also like to thank everyone who has come out in great numbers to support what I said.
People who want to sow division and ban, have called you racist for saying a statue should remain and we should learn from our past, not erase it. But be comforted: you are the sensible and often unheard majority in our town.
Together we can stop this cancel culture with tolerance and compromise.
