As many of you will know, I have been raising SEND issues and concerns both locally with the GCC and nationally with Ministers for some time now having had many parents of children with SEND come to me to share their experiences as well as schools raising funding issues.
Ahead of the Spring Budget, I co-singed a letter to the Chancellor asking for him to increase the funding for SEND education and ensure SEND pupils are properly supported. I was very pleased that an initial £105 million of funding was announced in the Budget which will go towards a wave of 15 new special free schools to create over 2,000 additional places for children with SEND across England. This increased funding will help more children receive a world-class education and builds on the significant levels of capital funding for SEND invested at the 2021 Spending Review.
