Following on from my meeting with the Severn Trent team to learn about the work they are undertaking as part of their £25 million private investment to upgrade our local sewage networks, it was great to receive an update on their ongoing work.
Since getting underway with the project in March 2022, the team have:
Completed 1.1km of pipe using their three TBMs
Completed the surface water separation works at Waitrose
Completed the infiltration reduction work on existing sewers
The next step now that planning has been approved, is to start construction on their new Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) site. In planning for this, Severn Trent have engaged with over 60 customers and landowners along the route of the pipeline.
Severn Trent are doing brilliant work when it comes to improving our sewage systems. I have been campaigning on this issue nationally and raising issues with government too. This being said, I am aware that some local people have concerns about this work, and I realise there has been a lot of disruption.
Whilst it is very positive that we have been prioritised for sewage work updates, if you feel that you are being negatively impacted by the work being undertaken, please do work with Severn Trent to see what can be done to resolve this. Please do also contact me if there are any issues thereafter.
