The Online Safety Bill returned to Parliament this week.
Having campaigned for many years to tackle anonymous abuse online, I am pleased that the government has accepted my campaign proposals to introduce verification options.
In practical terms, this means that people will have the option to be followed and to follow only verified accounts if that is what they choose, and to ensure that they know who is and who is not verified.
This would not have been possible without the brilliant work of Clean Up The Internet and various Stroud residents too.
However, we cannot rest on this campaign win as we still need to see this work in the real world and for social media companies to adopt these measures in a timely manner.
