I was really pleased to nominate Mark McShane of Stroud High School to join me at 10 Downing Street for a Community Education Champions Reception.
I could have happily nominated every headteacher in the district so it was difficult to choose.
I have been to Stroud High many times and I am always impressed with the leadership and how pupils are listened to and able to give their views and campaign so freely on issues that concern them like highlighting the sexual harassment they receive in uniform.
I have a great deal of respect for the tireless commitment that all of our local teachers give to local children and families and feel that it is important that they receive my thanks and praise from senior government ministers.
